About Dr. Blazei

Dr. Ryan Blazei is a clinical psychologist in practice in Cary.  Dr. Blazei specializes in providing compassionate care for those considering or undergoing treatment for fertility challenges.  She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota.  She moved to North Carolina in 2006 to complete an American Psychological Association-approved internship at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center and later completed an advanced fellowship in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery.  Prior to working in private practice, Dr. Blazei worked as a staff psychologist at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center and also served as a clinical supervisor on a nationwide study of mental health.

 

Dr. Blazei has authored several peer-reviewed manuscripts on genetic and environmental influences on childhood disruptive behavior disorders.  She has also published work on aspects of the parent-child relationship.  During graduate school, she earned several research training grants, including one through the National Institute of Mental Health.

Dr. Blazei is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Health Care Provider.  She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Mental Health Professional Group and she specializes in psychological assessment and brief, evidence-based treatment of grief and loss, infertility, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.  She provides a warm, supportive, and accepting environment in therapy and makes use of cognitive-behavioral and mind/body techniques to help clients.  Dr. Blazei also conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations of egg donors, sperm donors, and gestational carriers.
